Malena

What is your artist name? My name is Malena, on social media I put “ghetto” next to my name because I saw so many artists with the same name, many rappers change their name but I didn’t because my aunt gave me that name and she died that‘s why i still keep it.

What kind of music do you make? Emotional music (emo rap) and I like many other music styles too from old school to heavy metal, I like to try new things and get inspired, music is everything for me, if I had fans I would drop many more songs and inspire others too. The kind of music that I make is sad so if you feel depressed or heartbroken It‘s made for you but I also make just music to chill. I got many influences I can‘t name them all but I put everyone together to make my songs this way, i want my listeners to take some ideas but don‘t copy just tell your own story in your own way, be yourself thats what makes you special and different from others.

How old are you and when did you start creating music? I‘m 18 years old now and I started creating music as a child. I got inspired when I saw a rap music video when I was 2-3 years old after this I couldn’t stop listening to music, it became my drug.

What are your goals when it comes to your music career? It always been my dream to become world famous but it would be ok to be known in the underground community. And the reason is I wanna leave my art here on earth, when I’m not here anymore, I‘m not here just to disappear and hide my talent, I know this is my purpose to make music and inspire people…you know?

What do you want the reader to know about you and your music? I want to be taken serious and not as a joke and that I‘m human and I got problems and a past but I don’t want them to know everything about me but they can ask me questions… and my music is about real emotions and of course I do mistakes in it and it’s ok for me, if you don’t like it, then it’s not my problem. And people should not ignore the underground music maybe they gonna be your favorite artists when you see them on billboard charts, If it’s good then numbers don’t matter.

ΒEEZYBROWN “I Need Space” ft. K.Lew

Where did the name of this song come from? I was brainstorming about couples who don’t know about or refusing to give their partners space.

How long does it take for you to write a song and how long did this one take you write? It depends on the time of day. My best writing comes at night. It took me little under an hour to write the verse. I made the hook in like 2-3 minutes.

What is your favorite part of this song? Why? My favorite part of this song is when the second verse begins and she says “So you say you need some space yes aight/ only space that you getting are the ones that’s in this message.” That is literally how women think while they are with you. Even some males think like this as well. It’s quite detrimental to both parties in the relationship and ends up ending badly in the long run. The way she started the verse and ended it with the realization that not only has this man hurt her he wants to break her heart even more so she just leaves cause “she ain’t having none of that.”

When people listen to this song, what do you want them to take away as far as message? LEARN TO GIVE YOUR LOVER SPACE! That’s it.

Do you think this song represents who you are as a artist? It represents me if I was in a relationship with somebody how I would treat them if I’m being treated unfairly. “I Need Space” is an exact representation of being fed up with being smothered. We all need space. If anything this social distancing is a good way to learn to love being in your own space.

RatedR

What is your artist name? RatedR

What kind of music do you make?  I don’t usually like to generalize a specific genre on myself cause I feel like I can be versatile when I write. But I usually flow more with the R&B and HipHop side of music. I make music that allows people to catch a vibe to and embrace their confidence as well. I try my hardest to keep a meaning with my sound as well as relate with the people. My influences growing up were Lil Wayne, Lauryn Hill, JAY-Z and also Nicki Minaj. All these artists brought lyricism to the game and they forced you to think and inspired you to learn deeper into their words. That I truly admired from them. My process to writing music is just getting into my zone and creating as I go. If the beat and the vibes not sticking with me it’s not gonna work out. It’s gotta be organic and organized for it to flow to me. What I want you guys to take away from my lyrics is that you don’t need to compete, cheat or fight your way to popular or relevant. Stick with your passion and let your hustle speak for itself.

How old are you and when did you start creating music? I’m 20 years old, I started officially doing music when I was about 18. But I’ve been singing and writing since I was little.

What are your goals when it comes to your music career? My main Goals when it comes to my music Career is making sure my family is taken care of and sufficient all times. Also, I want to set up different pathways for other underground artists to have a chance and platform to demonstrate their talents to the world.

What do you want the reader to know about you and your music? What I want you guys to know about me, is that I’m authentic and real and I’m all with bringing positive energy. With my music it’s always gonna be a flow and I’m always coming hard with new vibes everyday. Stay tuned and y’all support my journey !

GEE

What is your artist name? GEE

What kind of music do you make? I would categorize myself under Rap and Hip Hop. I say this because I focus heavily on my lyrics and I manipulate the beats on some songs to make them my own, so that I can show some of my creativity. But, I like the idea of my supporters listening and interpreting my music through any genre that they see fit. As far as my process goes, my lyrics just come out the blue, anything that comes to mind I just write it. In my own words, I’m a free-writer. I would say my process has changed since I’ve been writing and making my music. When I first started, my writing lacked structure. I’m just now incorporating hooks and the other components that would make my songs qualify for someone’s playlist or to be on the radio. To touch up on the R&B side of my influences, Lauryn Hill is one of the major artists that inspired me. This is not to say that I am solely influenced by the R&B style, it is the way that these artists play with their lyrics and flow with the beat that play a factor in the deliverance of my own words. As far as my rap inspirations, Eminem, J Cole, Siya, Drake, etc. have helped shape the craft of my music and how I process the different forms. A major takeaway that I want people to get from my music is to be yourself. Whatever you want to write, write it. Whatever you want to speak on, speak about it. One thing I can say is that my music speaks on who I am as a person and that is something that I will never stray from. My music is my life, everything I’ve been through I put it in the music. If I die today I want people to understand that my lyrics speak about who I am, they tell my journey better than any person can.

How old are you and when did you start creating music? When I was younger, I wasn’t allowed to listen to songs with profanity in them. My mom used to buy my songs on iTunes and they were always the clean version. After a while, I started to play with the songs a little bit and fill in my own words because of the pauses where the profanity would’ve been. Eventually I realized this sparked my interest in music and I started to create my own music when I was around fourteen years old and I am 25 now.

What are your goals when it comes to your music career?  When it comes to my music career I am aiming for consistency. I want to keep making music, releasing music and making moves. From Gee to the public, I want to inspire before I expire.

What do you want the reader to know about you and your music?  No matter what situation you’re in, follow your dreams because I didn’t let anything keep me from following mines.

Cartier MarZ “Cartier Runner”

Where did the name of this song come from? Cartier Runner came from this image I’m trying to create for myself as an artist, trying to deviate from what people think of an artist who posts on SoundCloud mainly.

How long does it take for you to write a song and how long did this one take you to write? It took me a month to perfect this song because the beat was not what I wanted, and I rewrote the lyrics a lot of times.

What is your favorite part of this song? Why? My favorite part of the song would be the first verse, it shows how much I’ve gone through and that nobody knows about it. Yeah, I have my friends that support me, but they don’t in a way, only when I post. I feel alone in this world. I love all of my brothers, but I don’t feel like they love me. The whole song is my story.

When people listen to this song, what do you want them to take away as far as the message? I want them to vibe, that’s it. Relax life’s going to be OK.

Do you think this song represents who you are as an artist? All of my songs do.

I love you all.
