El Niño

What is your artist name? My artist name is El Niño. My friend Mike, his branding name is eighthgradehigh and the name he has on our YouTube video is MIK P.

What kind of music do we make? Me and mike collab a lot, we mainly make rap/hip-hop music. The music we make is very focused on keeping it simple, concise, and meaningful in regards to our words and our beats. We both like artists like Freddie Gibbs, Nas, and the whole TDE squad. We can rap slow or fast, just depends on the beat. We have a da baby type song on SoundCloud called (HAHA) which is fast paced. We want the listeners to listen closely to our words and realize the story we are telling in between those words and most of all we do not say the N word which is notorious for many rappers nowadays. Mike makes the beats and also has a little recording setup at his house.

How old are you and when did you start creating music? El Niño is 20 and Mik P is 20 as well. I’ve always loved music and always wanted to make something. Mike has been making music since early high school years and we started making music together officially late Dec. 2019. He is my neighbor so we kick it a lot.

What are your goals when it comes to your music career? It would be great to be somewhat of an icon or someone big in the music industry to influence and help people out.

What do you want the reader to know about you and your music? I would like the reader to check out our songs and especially My friends Mikes songs out on his SoundCloud.

Daniel Lito

What is your artist name? Daniel Lito

What kind of music do you make?  Alternative Hip Hop and Rap. I like having a hand in every part of the music making process. I make my own beats, do my own mixing, and record my own vocals. I get help from other artists, producers, and engineers when I can, but most of my singles and projects have been done solo. I’m an internet baby. I am heavily influenced by trap and hip hop music from different places in the US. I grew up listening to classic rock for the most part, so I really enjoy writing heartfelt lyrics and well structured songs. My favorite artist growing up was Michael Jackson. My lyrics and songwriting is a mixture of modern rap with pop/rock influences. I sing on almost every track, but my delivery is very rhythmic and interactive with the beat. My vocals are heavily influenced by styles like those of Lil Uzi or Young Thug. My vocal tone was shaped by singing rock from Led Zeppelin, to Queen, to Guns N’ Roses growing up. However, since I started rapping at 16, the blend of the two can definitely be heard on my tracks today. I sing out on most lines, but with a rap delivery and focus. My production and beats largely pull from the same influences. Trap is definitely the most prominent influence you can hear, especially in the drums. Most of the beats I make are based off loops I get online or off splice. I used to make my own, but I found that I could find high quality loops online. Using loops helped me realize that my strength is in orchestrating tracks as a whole rather than creating every part from scratch. Being able to pick and choose a quality, finished loop saves a lot of time and helps me create quality music faster.

How old are you and when did you start creating music? I am 24 years old. I’ve sung since I was a baby and started playing the piano at around 4 or 5 years old. I wrote my first songs in middle school, when i was 13 or so.

What are your goals when it comes to your music career? At the end of the day, I want to make global music that last through the years. I want to work with others who are also focused on making the best possible music, given what is going on in society in general and in the world of music. I hope to share my art with anyone and everyone who is open to it, and I hope to make my message available to as many people as possible!

What do you want the reader to know about you and your music? My music comes from the heart.  My music is a reflection of my own world and the world around me. I only make music that pulls from real emotions and experiences. Even though I do most the work myself, I dedicate my time to improving every single aspect of it. I only like to compare myself to my favorite artists, and I’ll only be truly satisfied when I feel like my projects have reached and surpassed the levels of those of the greats before me.

Scott Free “Let Her Go”

Where did the name of this song come from? Let Her Go actually was not my own choice, so I must give credit to the band Passenger.  I loved their hit song from the moment I heard it and I went searching all over Youtube for a hip hop style instrumental and was so hyped when I found one that was perfect!

How long does it take for you to write a song and how long did this one take you write? Every song is different, some songs I write in under an hour and others I spend weeks on.  Of course life sometimes gets in the way and things may come up and make me busy for a little while but this song took me around 2-3 days to write.  It was from the heart and I didn’t need long since the hook was already done.

What is your favorite part of this song? Why? Besides the great hook, I’d have to say my fav part of the song really is the hook haha, but in my verses the real true emotion I put into each line resonates with me.  Thinking about the 1st verse I swear every bar is so real about how I felt with the ex girlfriend I’m talking about.  When I said lines like “all the sights we saw, all the fights we fought, all the nights we lost, all the rights went wrong, for the life we sought, but the price it cost was I had to (Let Her Go) “and we used to think that we’d have some kids, find a place to live and watch em get to grow, now the only thing that I know is if I don’t deal with all my demons I’ll be dead alone.”  “Anytime we were together any kind of any weather thought our life would be together had a better hope, but now even in the summer time and even when the sun will shine I’ll never have to wonder why I’m getting cold” “when we broke up, almost broke down, last thing I needed was to be alone now even tho I’m used to balling on my own how did I keep on pushing you away like there was no foul?”  Those lines not only had great rhyme schemes and flow patterns but were such real raw emotion that I literally felt deep down inside!  In the 2nd verse my fav lines are “Most days you can tell I’m hurt it’s a Hell on Earth and a waste of time.  No change how can I deserve all the times I’m burned can’t erase my mind, and sometimes other days I’m fine, but those days are really hard to find.  Used to hide all the pain inside only now I try not to take my life. So how can I make things right?  Nothing works so far but I want to, no reply I denied how I want you hate it when mistakes keep on coming back to haunt you!”  and the last lines that I really love are “My whole past is sad thinking bout the day you left when you had to pack.  I get so mad so fast at all my mistakes but one thing I have to ask, do you remember all the memories and how you would be telling me you’ll never be forgetting me the way we always said it be and nothing came ahead of me because we had fidelity you’ll never get the less of any best of me?  Only thing that I can do, hope and pray that my dream comes true.  One day I can find another you but until then I’m just – (bridge into hook) “Staring at the ceiling in the dark same old empty feeling in your heart, cuz love comes slow, and it goes so fast.  You see her when you fall asleep, never to touch and never to keep, cuz ya love her too much and you dive too deep” Looking back and reading the lyrics, I’m not sure I’ve written any other song more real and passionate than this one.  It’s sad but it also provides a little bit of closure and hopefully will remind me not to make the same mistakes again if I ever meet the right girl again.

When people listen to this song, what do you want them to take away as far as message? If you have someone you can’t see life without and you can see yourself growing old together do whatever it takes to keep her and stay together no matter what!!

Do you think this song represents who you are as a artist? Absolutely! Like I said, my word play, rhyme schemes and flow along with the real emotion of the lyrics represents who I am as an artist perfectly!

End with a message for the reader – Tupac Shakur is one of my favorite artists of all time and a quote that will always be in my mind when it comes to music and being an artist and fan is when he said to actually truly listen to what the artist is saying!  Don’t just bop your head to the beat and not care about the message and substance of the song.  Not only that, but does the artist have a real genuine image that makes you truly believe that HE or SHE believes and feels what they’re saying in their music??  I consider music to be feelings that are turned into sounds, so if you’re a fan of someone don’t just like one hit single with no substance but really try to get to know the artist on a personal level and ask yourself if you can feel real substance and emotion in their music.  The greatest artists are the ones who open up their personal life including their insecurities and leave themselves vulnerable just to let the fans get a chance to truly know who they are exactly as a human being!

Tyler De Nawi Aka Moustafa

What is your artist name? My name is Tyler De Nawi Aka Moustafa! And the story of that is yet to be revealed. I don’t hate my name. I love it. But the world wasn’t ready for Moustafa yet and that transition is going to be made very soon and will be revealed in song. So I changed my name to Tyler when becoming an Actor to avoid being typecast – and now coming back to myself and my name as Moustafa and this journey of being behind a mask, losing myself to find myself is the story I’m telling in my first album.

What kind of music do you make? The late great Miles Davis once said “I don’t make Jazz… don’t put it in a box… it’s social Music” I don’t just make Hip Hop and don’t like to box it into just that genre. My music today has different elements and influences from jazz to heavy metal/punk. It is still hip hop though – so it’s about the struggle, it’s the underdog story but it’s fun, funny, Witty and still got ass and titties – we’re making mini movies at the end of the day. I make music that will boost your confidence, make you feel empowered and feel like a boss. To make you wanna beat your enemies and kill shit. At times I’ll speak of God and the devil and the battle we go through or big political views or vigilante messages but in a light fun way, I have a war song coming out soon that’s pretty dark – this is the heavy metal track. My biggest influences are; Drake, Kendrick, Tupac, MLK, Tyson, Ali, and Malcom X. I love where the culture ride is going and where it was taking us with artists New York artists like Lil Tjay, Favio Foreign, Pop Smoke May he Rest In Peace – and sometimes I enjoy the fun tracks that make you Woo! And I can go deep about the struggle, history, the people and empowering us. I believe if you don’t have anything significant to say don’t step up – hip hop always was and always will be about the struggle and the underdog. My process can vary from hearing a beat and free styling, to writing, to humming a melody or hook that came to me while I’m flowing (or high) or sometimes they come to me in dreams

How old are you and when did you start creating music? I was 26 when I seriously started writing raps and used it as an outlet – I was already pushing my career as an actor as my escape from the struggle – every time I would write/screenplays or anything, they would turn into raps. I found it to be my true calling and my muse for now – until I get the music out of me and prolly record my first album I won’t go back to the screen yet

What are your goals when it comes to your music career? Find a gun engineer that I click wit – work work, work and then get signed by Roc Nation or OVO. Either that or push my own label and gain distribution. Go back to Australia, buy mama a house, beat my case and then just continue to create and grow wit it. I believe I have a message for the whole world and my music is gon pop – so I gotta go big so I can be a voice for the people and speak truth and empower us minorities.

What do you want the reader to know about you and your music? My mission is to entertain, enlighten and inspire. So I’ma speak my message and keep it fun – So if I rap about the streets, the drugs, the struggle, the old ways and the women… It’s not to encourage that type of behavior, they’re lessons beneath the surface and they’re stories, just like movies, that require fireworks and action and explosions, so don’t get it twisted. If you’re rapping to be a street thug you got it wrong. The music is to get us off the streets.

Dutch Schultz

What is your artist name? My “artist” name is the name I go by and that’s Dutch Schultz. I’m a rapper by the way. Rap is my art but I’m a rapper and I’m proud of being known as a rapper.

What kind of music do you make? Hip Hop/Rap music is my comfort zone, any kind of beat as long as there something for me to hold onto. I can write to it and I can perform it. Outside my comfort zone I can write for other genres but I’m not a good singer and I don’t play instruments, the creative process is a little different for those situations.

When I write a rap, it depends on my mood and what’s going on. For situations where I need to send a direct message to another artist or group of people, it’s raw emotion that goes into the lyrics, mostly anger so it comes out faster. Softer more thought out projects take more time and if I’m trying to send a positive message, those take days or even weeks.

I have a hook I worked on for 12 years before recording it, I have other songs that were created from one line that I repeated to myself for years. Then you got beats that jump at me and 15 minuters later we got three 16s, a dope hook and I’m ready to go.

I’m inspired by the late great Tupac Shakur and Big Pun, my two favorite rappers growing up. I also listened to CNN, Mobb Deep, Fat Joe and a ton of Queens/Bronx rappers from the 90’s early 2000’s. Rocked with Dip Set and G Unit Music HEAVY as a youth.

Recently I have been inspired by the underground music scene and the younger artist putting in work. I enjoy the way they promote their art and the courage it takes to be more than just a goon on the beat. It’s nice to see.

How old are you and when did you start creating music? I am 38 and I am secure in my age, I lived a good life and know where I’m at when it comes to this music shit. I started rapping when I was 16 but I did not take my career serious until 32 when I was able to manage a few rappers from around my way. They were playing games so I ended up focusing on my own work.

What are your goals when it comes to your music career? When I first started it was to take the game and run, now I just want to be heard. I don’t care about what comes with it as long as people hear me and respect where I’m coming from. I don’t want to be limited by other people’s assumptions, enjoy my work for what it is and if you like my work, support it by sharing it to your friends.

What do you want the reader to know about you and your music? About my Music: It’s real, I want people to know I’m not glorifying ignorance. The choices I made as a youth pushed me back 10 years. So in a way, my music is a warning, it might sound cool but you gonna deal with the other side of those bad decisions. Like incarceration, poverty or death.

I want people who are not fans of rap music or hip hop to see feel the lyrics and the message behind each line. I’m not going to change the delivery but if you really claim to be a fan of the arts, you shouldn’t close the door because I rap.

About me: I’m only human, I make mistakes and I m accountable for my actions. Accept me for who I am and I will do the same. Bring heat, I got what you want. #simple

Mama K

What is your artist name? My name is Mama K

What kind of music do you make?  I make rap/hip hop/old school music I guess you could say depends on the feeling that day. I’ve been writing music ever since I saw lil bow wow in the special features on the Big Momma movie. I had always written poems, loved art, lovedddd the early 2000’s music, loved to hear the music my mama player when it was time to clean on Friday’s. My influences come from sooo many, like Trina, Lil Kim, Aaliyah, Ashanti, B.I.G, man honestly there’s a  lot… I hate that I forget every time I get asked this, I want my female listeners to gain their confidence back. Empower themselves,  especially mothers because I’m a single mother and I know how rough and tight things get and I want to let these dudes see it’s females makin music they can rock w/ too. They think we all only rap about what’s between our legs but that’s false. And even if some do that’s fine too lol. I want my audience to know sometimes my lyrics are deeper than they may appear and one day once I reach more people I’ll dissect those.

How old are you and when did you start creating music? I’m 24 years old, and I started creating music when I was about 12/13? I started making lyrics not knowing what I was doing since I was about 8/9 writing poems, hearing a song and adding my own extra words or rhymes to it lol

What are your goals when it comes to your music career? First: This year I will have at LEAST 50 performances.Since December I’ve had over 10, if it wasn’t for this Rona pause I’d be on ittt! Second: I want people to start requesting my songs at their local radio stations and clubs and parties this year. Third: One or two of my songs will go viral this year

What do you want the reader to know about you and your music? I want y’all to know Mama K is on the way and I am here to stay…

Lucas Michalski “Path”

Where did the name of this song come from? ‘Path’ is certainly a very personal and emotional song and even after so much time it still gives me shivers on back. Its title came from difficult decisions I had to make at certain time and as a result of that I came to the point when had to decide about my future steps.. I was at the crossroad, no doubt… ‘Path’ was an obvious choice, as we all have to find our own path to follow. Also, what’s worth mentioning, in the ‘Path’ music video (you can find on my YouTube channel, take a look!) I say goodbye to something, that’s why I’ve chosen particular moments and used particular material for the video.

How long does it take for you to write a song and how long did this one take you write? This one was quick, honestly. While having the idea in my head for quite a while, the whole process took me about 2-3 days, then another 2 days for production and mixing. Although it was the first song and I was only starting out my solo project, it still holds the special place.

What is your favorite part of this song? Why? Hard question indeed. I probably go for the end of the song while all emotion build up. That’s about the song itself. When it comes to the video I certainly love all of that live footage.

When people listen to this song, what do you want them to take away as far as message? Listen to your inner voice and follow your chosen path. Like I did. Might sound cheesy and cheap but that’s what message that song carries. End of something might be beginning of something else. Cheesy but powerful.

Do you think this song represents who you are as a artist? I think it does… It combines both of my style and the whole idea behind my solo project. Emotional, atmospheric, nostalgic yet fist pumping with plenty of guitars blended with electronic beats and samples. It definitely represents the whole EP though.

End with a message for the reader –  Never give up.  End of something might be beginning of something else. Find your ‘Path’ and follow it… might get lost at the start but never give up. And… also listen to the whole EP ‘Time’ 🙂 You can follow we on all of the social media, I’ll be more than happy to have a chat with YOU about literally anything. Just say hello or whatever you want. Hit me on either Youtube, Twitter or whatever…
