WildLyfe J-Blood

What is your artist name? WildLyfe J-Blood

What kind of music do you make? Club/Hip Hop/Influential. Truly a blessing to share with you my story through my music that I have the ability to take you through a trance of gangsta club and positive influence being that I wasn’t raised as a hater nor a negative person. Many of the influences I have had since my childhood until now such as in the gospel realm such as Cece and Bebe Winans, John P. Kee, Fred Hammond, and Kirk Franklin and my rap/hip hop influences such as Mystikal, Juvenile, Lil Boosie, Webbie, Foxx A Mill, Lil Phat, and Gambino Family some of those names I have mentioned I have worked with them directly or it being their artist/label… It has given me a different way of approaching the game I can create many styles of music/genres being that it may seem strange to many but not me I often find myself, creating musical sounds that causes me to create hooks and verses so easy within minutes and the creative energy that I posses that makes my flavor of delivery so unique and special to the music industry. I would most definitely like the listener to take from my music that yes, although I may have been through so many challenges I can remain positive and help out many other artists even though it ain’t easy and that’s exactly what I try to convey over through my music and not only that, I want the listener to enjoy themselves as much as I do because I love to dance and be very goofy. I not only give entertainment in my music I also give comedy, might slip in a joke in my verse.

How old are you and when did you start creating music? 32 and at the age of 15

What are your goals when it comes to your music career? My goals that I have when it comes to my music career is to help other artists and labels build their brand as well as mines and also partnership with many loyal dedicated labels and promotion companies that truly love people and the passion of helping people succeed in artist development, management, marketing, public support, and event bookings. In my career, I fill many shoes that my nights I find not much rest being that I’m always promoting my music or taking an extra step to put me at the top and I truly feel that if I retire right now I have done my job and succeeded and successfully done what I set my mind to do within the music industry.

What do you want the reader to know about you and your music? I would definitely like the reader to know that I am most definitely a risk taker and that nothing can stop me. I have found myself in many situations where I had to truly humble myself and it wasn’t all that  easy and I take this time to encourage you all that you can be the best if you give it your all and remember this you might be the only encouragement that someone has so put your best foot forward and keep on smiling through the rain. I would also want the reader to know that through my music I find it easy for me to express myself in a way that others can tell how I’m feeling and what I have been through and it helps me in the end and I hope and pray that it helps all of my listeners.

Antec

What is your artist name? I go by the moniker Antec

What kind of music do you make?  I make hip-hop and rap music. Being born in 1988 most of my hip hop influences are from the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. Jay-z, Eminem, Dr Dre, Ice Cube, Tribe Called Quest, Diplomats, Papoose, Lloyd Banks, etc  are just a small example of influences. I really like to be creative lyrically with punchlines and metaphors, so I make sure to incorporate that in all my pieces of work. Its not uncommon for a song to be delayed because I’ll dwell on a certain bar or line, wondering is it clever enough? Is there too many words? Is it played out? So I want the listeners to appreciate what they hear from me because nothing is rushed when it comes to my writing process and I genuinely care about what I put out.

How old are you and when did you start creating music? I am 31 years old and started writing poems and lyrics back around 2000. I only came up with the name Antec back in  18′ and since then I decided  to chase 1 of my dreams and see what happens. Most of people  we know live with regrets of “what if” or “I wish I..” that wont be me!

What are your goals when it comes to your music career? Honestly my goals are simple and basic. The recognition as a clever hip hop artist and incredible lyricist, throughout the nation would be phenomenal. With that recognition hopefully financial stability comes with it and I can provide even more for my family. Thirdly, I would like my music to be relatable, if nothing else uplifting. I want my music to bring joy to the consumer or some type of positive energy. I want my music to help make a difference in someones life. I love the reactions from clever punchlines or metaphors I come up with.

What do you want the reader to know about you and your music? I am a goofy, caring, intellectual, athletic Cape Verdean from Massachusetts. I’ve always been into sports and other activities but music always spoke to me. My music is essentially me just speaking my thoughts no matter how obscure, concerning or amusing they are. I have an EP coming out within the next few months titled Mind Of Antec. (M.O.A.) My newest single N.M.S is available on Spotify, itunes, Tidal etc. I also have other music available on YouTube and Soundcloud.

LEXA TERRESTRIAL

What is your artist name? LEXA TERRESTRIAL

What kind of music do you make? It’s a fun mesh of electro, Hardcore Trap/ Hip-Hop and sometimes EDM. It can be sad or gritty like Eminem or Lil Peep. Sometimes quick witted like Missy Elliot or feisty indie pop like my girl Peaches. But it all meshes into the same sounding female rapper. I listen to real spitters. When I was 8 I tried to learn every Eminem lyric while swinging on my swingset. Still to this day he’s been inspiring me. Joyner Lucas, Logic, LIL PEEP, and 80s synthwave … I also enjoy pop ballads and emo. So my musical content is lyrically intense, angry at times…. Witty and emo. I am very much a writer and I challenge myself to play with words and fit in words or even silence (no words) when I can. I write all of the time. Play it down on the piano and sometimes I will make a beat or use a beat others submit to me which are often 100 times better than what I can do with the limited time I have. Sometimes I’ll start from scratch and give a song the life it was intended to have. I have daily routines…. Vocal warm ups and everything to keep me polished. Not many people know this about me. But when it comes to ideas and songs I will never have enough time in the world to outpour all of the ideas i have. These ideas are born from an overly active mind and all the demons you try to numb from it. I don’t go looking for ideas they look for me. They create me. It’s all born out of pain and unfortunate circumstance. When you’re constantly thrown under the bus, used, or have crazy terrible things occur throughout your life… music is just an extra way to share your story with whoever wants to hear it.

How old are you and when did you start creating music? I’m 26 and have been making music pretty much my entire life but on a serious business level – 10 years. I’ve been persistently releasing music and my merchandise / brand since I was 18. And missing a lot of school to create a little before that. I was up til 4am and it would be hard to get up after being so overburdened. Most people would have given up but I have not and will not.

What are your goals when it comes to your music career? I want to be able to focus more on the music & less of the 80% of other stuff that goes into it. I work hard, and I want others to, and to bet on me even if we don’t need em’. I want to continue to fight the corruption i see everyday and warn people about the future all while creating it 5 years before it’s cool. I want to help people. I want to change the world so bad. I feel powerless. Which is another thing I want to change. I want to see less trivial societal BS and I want to be apart of that change… I have a lot of blue-prints for my next album “empty life syndrome” and I am working with others, but i want other people to work hard to help ensure all of my years of hard work pay off. I hope to do that… and i hope it gets even more interest than my last pieces of work because it is and could be my last. I want the world to stop being so agenda based and fake…. And start to be more considerate about the world around them, especially those who are sick and in need
During this crisis I have seen people so quickly go back to learning nothing and being selfish and stupid and it’s very aggravating. But that’s my goal. To help myself and others. To have more ability to do that. I already have everything else I need and a loud voice. But we need good luck on our side.

What do you want the reader to know about you and your music? I’ve seen and dealt with a lot… I have a story to tell. One so crazy, you almost can’t write it. If it weren’t for these terrible things happening, I would still have things to write about sure, but they’d be a lot less meaningful. My music and futuristic brand and every piece of it is HAS a reason. Every 5 years I hear “you’ve been doing this… you’ve been on this, you were first.” My ideas are often young and still being polished or executed and then 5 years later the stuff you see and hear is what we did. It’s not a bad thing…. We’re used to being the forward thinking underdogs & even writing those ideas for much bigger artists, but we need more help in bringing these sounds forward. And we work around the clock to keep it moving like a well oiled machine. So much goes into it. But we care an awful lot.
Through me and my music I want people to feel powerful, happy, relaxed, question the meaning of life or learn something. I get a lot of people who reach out like “YES YOU F%#$ing GET IT” from listening to a sonic-derived angry letter…. It’s all to help someone out there that feels the same I did and those in need. We are a passionate underground movement that wants to be at the forefront of what our brand, ideas, fashion and music are about. We want to reach more of the same and have more help to do it.

Evan Lesoule

What is your artist name? Evan Lesoule

What kind of music do you make?  I make Conscious Hip-hop music about mental health. The music I create tends to connect to audiences through its relatable lyrics that can be described as hopeful yet slightly humorous. I want to convey to my audience that the struggles you face don’t define the life you live. My music always stems from a moment in life that I’ve experienced that I feel like other people may relate to. From there I make music that we can all vibe to. My influences are Eminem, Childish gambino and Nipsey Hussle.

How old are you and when did you start creating music? I’m 24 years old, I started pursuing music as a career about 5 years ago.

What are your goals when it comes to your music career? My goal is to live financially free through creating and performing my music across the world. I don’t care much about fame or being the most popular rapper, which allows me more freedom to make my music as real as possible.

What do you want the reader to know about you and your music? I’m an artist who documents his journey of self improvement through music. I find that the beauty of life is that we are prone to seeing its imperfections, only when we take a step back do we realize the imperfections is what makes life beautiful. I find joy in connecting with people who are imperfect.

Kristen Lei

What is your artist name? Kristen Lei

What kind of music do you make? I primarily record hip hop and rap, while incorporating melodies in my hooks.  I love recording pop and alternative tracks as well.  My music is mainly influenced by upbeat tempos, artists such as Missy Elliot, Britney Spears, Timbaland, etc.  Im also inspired by strictly hip hop beats and artists such as Eminem, Megan Thee Stallion, Machine Gun Kelly, and so many more! Lately, my process has been to start with the right beat or a good beat to write to.  Then I either come up with the verses or the hook, record myself when its all written, practice, and then take it to the studio!  Rap instrumentals are definitely easier for me to write to, but I would like to get better at writing slower, alternative tracks with more singing. My first album titled “Awake” was very personal, and talks about parts of my life that led me into making music.  My next two EPs are not as much about heavy topics like Awake was, they are based around rap alter egos and have a lighter feel.  I want people to feel good when they listen to my music, whether it be therapeutic through some of the heavier songs, or something they can feel entertained by with the crazy alter ego raps!

How old are you and when did you start creating music? When I first started making music and recording, I was 26.  I felt comfortable with singing and being in the studio, having had background in choir and theatre growing up.  Rap wasn’t something I planned on doing, but once I began writing and recording, I realized rap was a lot easier for me!  Singing is definitely something Im trying to incorporate more and become better at. Right now I am 29, and in the three years of doing music, Ive recorded 37 songs, and wrote 30 of them.

What are your goals when it comes to your music career? My goals for my music career is to stay true to myself and my art, and to create music that people love and wanna hear every day.  I hope to inspire other artists and lyricists.

What do you want the reader to know about you and your music? I care a lot about lyrics, and I wont put out something that I feel is giving the audience a bad message.  I write all my own raps, and at the moment Im an independent artist. I would only sign to a label that I feel is right, one that wont manipulate my image into something that is not true to me.

Queen Calypso

What is your artist name?  Queen Calypso

What kind of music do you make?  Alternative Rap & R&B is the best way I can describe it. I always pick a beat first before anything else. I build off what I have and just play it by ear. Once something clicks, that’s when the writing starts. I generally think of a topic that pertains to something that’s happening in my life at the time. I don’t view the words I write as song lyrics at first, I like to think of the words as a poem. Then I start to rap or sing it over the beat and then basically just nit pick and edit it all until a week or two later, bam! A new song.

How old are you and when did you start creating music? I am currently 28 years young and I’ve been dabbling with music since I was a kid. It always acted as a sort of escape for me. I wrote, composed and recorded my first song in 2008 using garage band on  a very old laptop.

What are your goals when it comes to your music career? I used to think what I wanted to get out of making music was the fame. And while that is definitely a perk, the older i get the more I realize all I truly want is for my music to be heard. Heard and enjoyed. I have only performed on stage about 10 times in my life and every time I am up there doing what I love, I don’t ever want to leave. The stage is where I belong and if it means dropping a lot of music in hopes of one day having a fan base high enough to sell out a theater or stadium, then thats what I will do. Money is of course ideal too but I have been making music for over a decade now and haven’t made a dime; and while that sentence is king of depressing, I wasn’t ever focused on making millions, I was focused on simply creating a new sound and to be taken seriously as an artist.

What do you want the reader to know about you and your music? Most of the songs that are out are older, that’s just how my life went. I’ve never had a studio or a place to record, usually just my basement or room with a laptop, Garage Band and headphones. The music I have released isn’t great quality; but I write my own lyrics, I compose my own beats and I perform all of the content solo. I want my fans to know that music is something I truly love, whether it’s listening to it, creating it, discussing it, singing it or dancing to it, music has been my life for as long as I can remember. I do this simply because it’s what I love to do and if I can create a fanbase of cool humans who like what I create as much as I do then that is definitely a plus!
