What is your artist name? My artist name is Maxtallies. It’s pronounced “max + tallies.”
What kind of music do you make? I make mostly Hip Hop, Trap and R&B. I believe that as an artist you shouldn’t just limit yourself to one type of sound. When it comes to musical influences I could probably go on and on. I draw inspirations from artists like Biggie, Tupac, Masta Ace and Lauryn Hill. Because I also make beats, my favorite producers are Timbaland, RZA, Scott Storch and Dr. Dre. But it’s also very important to note that I don’t just listen to the kinds of music I make, which are hip hop, trap and R&B. You would be surprised at me saying that I listen to all kinds of music. My tastes can range from classical music and sweet sweet jazz, to old school country music and blues, and even as far as salsa and merengue.
My musical process is a very strict regimen. When I have an idea for a beat I want to make I’ll go and record a little hum or I’ll sing what I want it to go like. From that snippet, I’ll sample it (something I learned from Timbaland) and then I’ll replace it with real instruments. To keep me engaged with what I’m making, I’ll usually associate a word to the beat. This is also helpful when it comes to naming the project. Once I have a loop that I like, I’ll duplicate it into a very basic 2 minute song demo. From this demo I’ll usually reinstate the word from earlier and I’ll use that word to help me write. The entire song is then written on the demo. Once I get to a writing position in where I’m confident it’ll work, I go back to the demo and add more instruments or take away instruments so that it is a little more interesting.
When people listen to me I don’t want them to hear just the beat (even though I spend a lot of time on them). The beats are just there to enhance my message. I want people to be able to take away from the certain vibe of the song and to understand what I’m trying to say. I always hide messages in my songs and try to quiz my friends to see if they understood it.
How old are you and when did you start creating music? I’m 24 years old. I have always wrote poetry. I first started writing with an introductionby by my elementary school teacher. He encouraged me to write more and more and evidently it became something I enjoyed doing. As far as professional rapping and singing and beatmaking, I didn’t start until I was 18.
What are your goals when it comes to your music career? At the moment, it’s not really about the money. I just want exposure and the ability to connect with individuals. To spread like a virus is a boy’s greatest dream.
What do you want the reader to know about you and your music? EVERYTHING IS PERSONAL. I try to speak my truth openly and as honestly as I can and I hope you can relate.
What is your artist name? My name is Wavesword “Marsy” Mars, but you can just go with Mars for short.
What kind of music do you make? The nice, concise definition of my music remains in the works, but most call it “baroque-hop” or “freakup”, a highly progressive variant of hip-hop. It’s for anyone who likes music that pushes, that has thought-spurring lyrical content, or that has a powerful native visual element to it. My work is an attempt to create something entirely unique in the history of hip-hop, both melodic and progressive; a style in which all genres can shelter equally, like a model of the perfect society, with multiple melodies playing off one another, at once challenging and enriching each other.
The width of influence in the music – from Bach to Popol Vuh to Rakim to samba music – is reflected in the fact that no one looks into it and sees the same thing twice. It all reflects back differently to each person. I’d hope people take away an admixture of that, and a shared sense of the strong principles and concepts that drive the work lyrically. But I won’t spoil them for you here.
How old are you and when did you start creating music? Something like 25; I’ve been making music since before I was half that age.
What are your goals when it comes to your music career? To see people understand and delight in my work – and while I wouldn’t object to that happening at scale, whether in time two dozen people or fifty million can be found vibing to it, I’ll be happier than my powers of expressions can do justice.

What kind of music do you make? Rap, I make music inspired by life struggles that I have experienced or witnessed. Music is an outlet for me to express myself in hopes that I can help others relate and overcome hard times. Everytime I go into the booth and record a song about my past I like the audience to feel the same emotions that I experienced during that time. I take influence by artists like Nas or Logic whose lyrics send powerful messages that people can Invision while listening.
How old are you and when did you start creating music? I’m currently 27 years old and I have wanted to make music my entire life and finally got the opportunity this year to start recording seriously.

What kind of music do you make? HIP HOP. I make all kinds of hip hop, there isn’t many forms that I haven’t tried. I always just do whatever I like. My influences range from a wide variety of different artists. If I name a few you can tell I’m into a lot of different types of shit that I can either relate to or it just hits right and Im feelin the vibe. Roc Marciano, Retch, Conway the machine, Jedi mind tricks, Sean price, Ill bill, styles p, Dave east, method man, Roddy ricch, Freddie Gibbs, Tupac, Castro Guapo, Quin nfn, smokepurpp, ASAP rocky, Tory lanez the list goes on that ain’t even close to how many. And none of had a bigger influence it’s pretty equal.
Honestly I really like to sit with beats for a while and write to it whenever I get the chance or I’m in a writing mode. Kush is always involved, I like to smoke and write it’s always been a ritual and it gets me in my zone but I don’t NEED it to write, I just prefer to. Once I’m done writing to it and I’m really feeling it, I take it to the studio and do my thing, if it comes out like I pictured it or better then I put it out. I spent a long ass time not releasing shit till I felt like my music would be good enough for ME to listen to. If I feel like it sounds corny or I know I wouldn’t fuck with it enough to listen to it myself then I just scrap it, maybe save the verses or the hook for another beat. I have some sick engineers that work on my shit, they always make me sound better than I thought it would and it helps me get better and become more creative with my work.
How old are you and when did you start creating music? I’m 25, starting creating when I was 15.
What are your goals when it comes to your music career? I don’t put huge expectations on how I want my music career to be. I’m not trying to be the best that ever did it, that’s never been my goal as an artist. But to make a comfortable living doing what I really LOVE is what it’s all about for me. Other than that I just wanna keep getting better, I’ll always be a student of the game.
What do you want the reader to know about you and your music? When it comes to hip hop, with all the styles and different kinds of artists that been influenced by… it’s very easy for me to do any sort of style and I never want to be put in a box with only 1 kind of sound. I want people to see me as a rapper that’s capable of making anything I feel like.
What is your artist name? Los the LION (Last Ideal One Needed)
What kind of music do you make? Hip Hop. As of lately, I’ve started singing more for R&B purposes. I’m always down to do crossover music. My versatility is out of this world. First and for the most part, I’m a stoner. Stoner music will always be my favorite type of music to make. I support Mary Jane with all of my heart. I make love and hurt music. I really just let my heart take the wheel. The feeling(s) that come out after the instrumental is played and vibed to is what I go with. I believe in the Universe. I believe the Universe plays a major role in our daily lives. Positive energy is key. I do make spiritual music. When I’m in my bag, the music gets gritty. Lions are majestic, but they are also very violent. You don’t want to be on my bad side. My roar is ferocious. Versatility.
My heart, again, plays a major role in which direction my music is headed in. I’m also influenced by lions. I’m the king of the jungle. My biggest influence may be cartoons/anime. I love cartoons. I believe this is why my imagination is pure. Another major influence is my love for superheroes. I’m a superhero at heart. Timmy Turner, from “Fairly Odd Parents,” also is a colossus influence. I am known for wearing a silly pink hat and wearing fuchsia.
I don’t write music until I have a beat. When presented with fire, the concept is forged. It just clicks. I have came up with a concept first a couple of times before. My producer, Precha Boy, can make beats just off of hearing me sing. He’s a major asset on my team. I’m so blessed to have him on my squad. None of my lyrics are fabricated. If I’ve been through it, then I write about it. I am today’s Shakespeare. I’m the best poet of this generation. You’re always going to get vivid imagery from my lyrics.
How old are you and when did you start creating music? I’m old enough to party. May 30. I’m a Gemini, and that’s the BEST zodiac sign out of the bunch. I was 23 when I started putting my all into my music career.
What are your goals when it comes to your music career? I want my roar to be heard around the world. I want my music to have longevity. I want my music to be whatever the listener needs it to be to get through the day. I want my producers (Ben Ockey & Precha Boy) and I to be successful. I want to make sure my Ma and Pops are well taken care of. I want my future generations to have “Old money.” I want a lion. I’m going to have a lion.
Los the LION
What do you want the reader to know about you and your music? I say “S O 2 L 7” a lot in my music. That’s an acronym for “Shoutout to L7.” L7 is another term for square (nerd, weirdos, dorks…the unwanted and unloved.) I rap for those guys. I’m one myself. There’s too many gangsta, thug, and drug dealer rappers. Someone needed to stand up for the little guy. So here I am. Twitter/Instagram: @kingroarl7
We’re proud and excited to announce the release of our debut full length titled “Chained to the Grave”. We are a duo group from Calgary, Alberta Canada, Started in late 2018. This is a ten song album, with tracks influenced by underground hip hop and lo-fi artists. Any feedback would be much appreciated!
What kind of music do you make? I have many different influences, I guess I would describe it as electronic/alternative. It’s hard to identify any sort of process, the inspiration comes and goes. Some times it starts with an instrumental and I write lyrics to that other times I have a poem or lyrics that I make an instrumental to. I try not to pay to much mind to what the listener takes from my lyrics, I just write what I feel or think, based on my own experience. I like lyrics that are a little esoteric and don’t have to mean one thing.
How old are you and when did you start creating music? Early 20’s, I think I got my first guitar when I was like 10.
What are your goals when it comes to your music career? To have a music career lol
What do you want the reader to know about you and your music? I don’t really no how to answer this, I kind of just want the reader to listen to it and see what they think. And support it if they like it. I never want to just stay in one place with my music. I want my music to be something that is constantly growing and evolving, and is never predictable.
What is your artist name? My artist name is Matty Wavez.
What kind of music do you make? I make Rap/Hip-hop music. If I had to use one word to describe my music I would say eclectic. It’s Rap music, but at times mixed with pop, or future bass, or trapsoul. I definitely have a commercial sound, that is heavily influenced by the artists I grew up on. My biggest musical influences would have to be Drake, Kanye, 50 Cent, T.I., and Eminem. In terms of my process of making music, I do everything myself. I buy my beats from producers, but mixing, mastering, writing, and recording is all done by me in my home studio. When I write I try my best to capture a singular feeling or moment in time and stretch it into a 3 minute story. I would hope that listeners just feel something when they listen to my music, no matter what it is. Whether it’s a sadness or anger that the song helps them work through, or a happiness with an urge to dance, I just want the listeners to feel something.
How old are you and when did you start creating music? I’m 25 now and I actually started making music when I was 16 as a joke. It was something to pass the time. I started taking it serious around age 20 and releasing music at age 23.
What are your goals when it comes to your music career? My biggest goal is to be able to solely do music and provide for my family. I want to wake up and do what I love everyday.
What do you want the reader to know about you and your music? I would like the reader to know they can find my music on all streaming platforms and they can follow me on Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.
What kind of music do you make? I make rap/trap music, I’m a versatile rap artist who flexes his skill on every track. Being from the south, I was influenced by Mc’s such as; UGK, 8 Ball and MJG, Pastor Troy and Z-Ro. If you listen to my music that southern influence shines through clear as day, but I want to be known as more than just another southern rapper. I pour my heart into my rhymes and you hear it on the tracks.
How old are you and when did you start making music? Now at the age of 35, I have been rapping locally in Louisiana since 2004. Now with the prominence of streaming, I think I can take my independent grind to the next level. I want people to know that artist can take the independent route and be successful. I want to be known for giving my fans quality music that they can relate to. I want to bring you into the world of a Louisiana native and show you all the things that shape the rhymes you hear over these beats. Most of all I want the listeners to leave satisfied.
