Where did the name of this song come from? I came up with it as a way of saying that misery is a thing of the past, even thought it did take it’s toll on me.
How long does it take for you to write a song and how long did this one take you write? It used to take me about 8 hours to write and record a song. I would record the song as a I wrote it so that was a little time consuming, at first. It currently takes me about 3 to 4 hours to write and record a song. Misery in History took me approximately 8 hours (a day) to write and record.
What is your favorite part of this song? My favorite part of this song is the piano track on it.
Why? I think that the piano part is what makes the song the song that it is. The rhythm guitar track kind of sets the tone but most of the emotion lies in the piano playing.
When people listen to this song, what do you want them to take away as far as message? I want them to see that things are never the end of the world. I want them to see a ray of hope, especially if they are going through dark and troublesome times, that they are not alone, and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. If I can, I would like to be a piece of encouragement for someone suffering and feeling like there’s never an end to misery.
Do you think this song represents who you are as a artist? I do think this song represents who I am as an artist because being the artist that I am is a product of all my life experiences and I feel that I have been at the lowest and it has been an upward battle from there. I came through my experiences with a way to use art as something very therapeutic and healthy, as a way of life, now. Art is my life and so is the success that comes with it and that is basically what this song is about.
End with a message for the reader – you can literally break the fourth wall and speak directly to the reader or write as if you are talking about the people reading…. but talk to the reader. I would like to be an example for all of you guys. I would like to be known and seen as someone who is living proof of a happy and higher existence and that the growth is in our own hands, so if you ever feel alone, just understand how empowering that will be for you in the long run. We can be what we want to be and we will always be what we want to be. That’s the beauty of being individuals and having artistic tendencies and abilities is just one thing that will shape us into what we want to become.
