Omegagon

What is your artist name? Omegagon aka Simon Hamilton

What kind of music do you make? I think for the most part I fall under synthwave umbrella. Darksynth / cyberpunk / outrun but at the same time I won’t limit myself to any kind of conformity. Being born in the 1980s I grew up with bands like Depeche Mode so I’ve got a natural love of the 80’s and 90’s scenes. I first heard Synthwave in 2014. My brother gave me ‘I am the Night’ by Perturbator and I was blown away by it.  I imagined a genius in a room full of real synths because I knew nothing about electronic music really back then. But as I looked into it I learned and knew I could do it as far as the tunes go. But the learning curve for mixing and getting the gear together took me a long time. I had to self teach through youtube tutorials and trial and error. But my first album ‘Aether Realm’ was written over the course of 2015 – 2019 because I was wrestling with the tracks as I self taught and mixed it. Also I knew it had to be up to a certain standard which is why it took so long. I am happy with how I did and time is of the essence. But I believe my mixing and mastering on the 2nd album. The follow up is going to being a more well rounded and full sound. Because I have more tools at my disposal and more experience to draw from.

How old are you and when did you start creating music? 39. I started creating in high school.  I loved guitar and two key albums in nurturing my love of guitar were Nirvana ‘Nevermind’ and Green Day ‘Dookie’ I also loved how guitar lessons allowed me to get me out of class. Once I got the basics down I used to ask my guitar teacher to teach me certain songs I was into.  Back then there was no internet of free tabs and lessons and he used to drip feed me one song a week.

What are your goals when it comes to your music career? I hope to leave some kind of authentic legacy behind. I want to get my second album finished and print vinyl or get some kind of physical copies made this time around. After that I am looking to complete a live set up and take Omegagon infront of a live audience. I need to get big enough in the scene to be welcomed by a promoter as warm up act for a bigger artist to make it worth while. Interested in Retro Future Fest.

What do you want the reader to know about you and your music? Harmony, melody and rhythm are key to my sound. I want my music to illicit a response or emotion. I want people to feel the need to move their body, to feel happy, to feel sad. When I make my tracks I have this always in the back of my mind. What kind of a vibe is this music conjuring in me. I am constantly working on improving the sound and I am currently working on my second album which will be released Late Summer / Fall 2020.  More news on this coming soon on my feeds.

Izabeyah Shower ($hower) – Misery in History

Where did the name of this song come from? I came up with it as a way of saying that misery is a thing of the past, even thought it did take it’s toll on me.

How long does it take for you to write a song and how long did this one take you write? It used to take me about 8 hours to write and record a song.  I would record the song as a I wrote it so that was a little time consuming, at first.  It currently takes me about 3 to 4 hours to write and record a song.  Misery in History took me approximately 8 hours (a day) to write and record.

What is your favorite part of this song? My favorite part of this song is the piano track on it.
Why? I think that the piano part is what makes the song the song that it is.  The rhythm guitar track kind of sets the tone but most of the emotion lies in the piano playing.

When people listen to this song, what do you want them to take away as far as message? I want them to see that things are never the end of the world.  I want them to see a ray of hope, especially if they are going through dark and troublesome times, that they are not alone, and there is a light at the end of the tunnel.  If I can, I would like to be a piece of encouragement for someone suffering and feeling like there’s never an end to misery.

Do you think this song represents who you are as a artist? I do think this song represents who I am as an artist because being the artist that I am is a product of all my life experiences and I feel that I have been at the lowest and it has been an upward battle from there.  I came through my experiences with a way to use art as something very therapeutic and healthy, as a way of life, now.  Art is my life and so is the success that comes with it and that is basically what this song is about.

End with a message for the reader – you can literally break the fourth wall and speak directly to the reader or write as if you are talking about the people reading…. but talk to the reader. I would like to be an example for all of you guys.  I would like to be known and seen as someone who is living proof of a happy and higher existence and that the growth is in our own hands, so if you ever feel alone, just understand how empowering that will be for you in the long run.   We can be what we want to be and we will always be what we want to be. That’s the beauty of being individuals and having artistic tendencies and abilities is just one thing that will shape us into what we want to become.

Prince Amine

What is your artist name? Prince Amine

What kind of music do you make? From dancehall to afro, to r&b, hip hop & pop. I mix it all! Cause it’s all the type of music I grew up to and enjoy listening and cooking up with. The music I make depends of the vibe and phase I’m in in my life. Right now, I’m at the R&B, soul and hip hop phase mixed with the melodic rapping in which I express myself about personal stuff & things that others most likely will relate to. My process is pretty simple: I take out a huge notebook that I got and have a beat, then put it on repeat till I get a fire melody and from there the hook is born… The rest is history.

How old are you and when did you start creating music? I’m 20 years old now and I officially released my first album on my 18th birthday.

What are your goals when it comes to your music career? I want to hit the international artist status. Collab with artists I admire and find that we’d make one hell of a track. Sell out big venues and use my musical platform to do some good for others.

What do you want the reader to know about you and your music? That all my inspirations from old to new school are mixed into one big package and that’s me. Plus my live entertainement is key to enhancing my music.
