Rappers – DO YOU HAVE A STRONG WORK ETHIC? #ManagementTalk

Being an indie artist requires a unique set of skills and an exceptional work ethic to thrive in a highly competitive industry. In today’s world, independent artists have more opportunities than ever before to make their music heard and build a fan base. However, the work ethic of an indie artist is crucial to achieving success.

A strong work ethic is defined as the ability to maintain a high level of productivity while staying focused on long-term goals. It is a habit of mind that encourages a consistent work rate, attention to detail, and the drive to achieve results.

Here are some of the key elements that make up a strong work ethic for an indie artist:

  1. Time Management

Time management is essential for an indie artist. Being independent means you are responsible for managing all aspects of your music career, from recording and writing to marketing and promotion. Therefore, you must be able to plan your time effectively to ensure that everything is done on time.

  1. Self-Motivation

Indie artists have to be self-motivated because they don’t have a record label or management company to push them to keep working. You must have the drive to work hard and stay motivated to achieve your goals. It’s important to stay focused and keep your eye on the prize, even during challenging times.

  1. Networking

Networking is a crucial element of an indie artist’s work ethic. It involves building relationships with people in the industry, from other artists to producers, music journalists, and industry insiders. You must be willing to attend events and engage with people in the industry, both online and in person.

  1. Creativity

Indie artists are known for their creativity, and this is an essential element of their work ethic. You must have a unique voice and style that stands out from the rest. It’s important to be constantly creating and experimenting with different sounds and styles to stay relevant and ahead of the game.

  1. Flexibility

Flexibility is crucial for indie artists. The music industry is constantly changing, and as an indie artist, you must be able to adapt to these changes quickly. You may need to pivot your sound or marketing strategy to keep up with the times, and being flexible enough to do so is a key aspect of your work ethic.

  1. Perseverance

Perseverance is an essential part of an indie artist’s work ethic. There will be times when you face rejection, setbacks, and obstacles. However, you must have the determination to keep going and never give up. It’s important to remember that success is a journey, and it takes time to achieve.

  1. Attention to Detail

Attention to detail is another essential element of an indie artist’s work ethic. You must pay attention to every aspect of your music career, from the sound quality of your recordings to the visual elements of your branding. It’s the small details that can make a big difference in how you are perceived in the industry.

In conclusion, the work ethic of an indie artist is essential to achieving success in the music industry. Time management, self-motivation, networking, creativity, flexibility, perseverance, and attention to detail are all critical elements of a strong work ethic. By developing these habits of mind, indie artists can thrive in an industry that rewards hard work, dedication, and innovation.

ShamanzShadow

What Kind of Music Do You Make? (Genre) : Its like Led Zeppelin met Pink Floyd and they went to a HipHop concert

When did you start creating music and what inspired you to become a recording artist? : I performed with a Rock band years ago and walked away for a decade. Then I got my Covid payment and invested in equipment and suddenly 130 songs and videos came rushing out. I had never even been able to use a DAW before that. Suddenly all at once I had hours of indescribable music in my lap and I had to figure out what to do about it.

How Old Are You and How Does That Hurt or Help Your Ambitions in Music ? : I’m 66, well beyond being able to perform with the intensity and energy I had done once. It would kill me now I’n certain.. that’s not gonna be part of the show tho. SO my career must succed WITHOUT the advantage of live performance. On the positive side, my maturity has provided the means to learn most everything I needed to get into stores on my own… SOFAR anyway. The old man MUST shine.

Tell The Reader About Your Latest Project – what is it about – and – what inspired you to make it? : Well, with 3 albums and seven singles published I’ve settled into learning promotion. Also I’m invested in the Artificial Intelligence revolution. Mostly album cover graphics but now I’m experimenting with assisted lyrics, song composition and AI talent. I strive for my work to be mysterious and other worldly and A.I. is driving that concept forward a step beyond simple human imagination. But, its never going to replace my HUMAN compositions for sure, just augment it.

Where do you see yourself in FIVE YEARS and What are you doing to get there? : I so believe my steps and music come from beyond this physical world. I never could have imagined making these kinds of sounds and songs. So, having not planed ANY of this at all I have no idea where Kismet is taking me next. I’m just holding on for dear life!! I’m offering my dynamic music video production service to everyone and I hope people who have no video footage of themselves but need a music video to knock people socks off will contact me.

Mark Leonard (switchMark)

What Kind of Music Do You Make? (Genre) : Today it’s house. The two days before that were Dubstep. The day before that was {checks} a few days of Techno before that.

When did you start creating music and what inspired you to become a recording artist? : I did a little DJ-ing when I was a teen. I tried to make music about 20 years ago. It was basic. I found out a couple years back that I had some pretty serious hearing issues. Tinnitus. Had been an issue for at least a decade, but not diagnosed. When I could hear without the bar of sound in my head, I felt compelled to take a run at music.

How Old Are You and How Does That Hurt or Help Your Ambitions in Music ? : 48. Neither. I hope to do what I am doing till the day I die.

Tell The Reader About Your Latest Project – what is it about – and – what inspired you to make it? : My latest project is the Day’s project. I wanted to see how many days in row I could release a full instrumental album. I’m currently at 47 days released in a row. I was inspired to create a portfolio of my work for Sound managers to access. I wanted somewhere to copywrite everything quick. Distrokid provides that, gets my music out there quickly.

Where do you see yourself in FIVE YEARS and What are you doing to get there? : I’d like to own or run a proper studio by then.

What are you doing to get there?
Producing every day. Networking every day.

One person has died and five others were hospitalized after taking what is believed to be a highly potent batch of drugs. The tragedy has sparked concerns about drug safety and the responsibilities of event organizers and participants.

While drug use is prevalent in the music and festival scene, it is important to note that not all substances are safe, and the effects can be unpredictable. The particular drug that caused the overdose is still unknown, but it is believed to be a synthetic opioid or a powerful hallucinogen. Many illicit drugs are mixed with other substances, making them even more dangerous.

This can include providing drug education and harm reduction services, as well as implementing drug testing services. Some festivals have taken steps to provide safe spaces for drug use, which can help prevent overdoses and other drug-related incidents.

With greater education, support, and personal responsibility, we can work towards creating a safer and more responsible music and festival scene.

50 Shares his 2 Cents About Future and how HE got the streets compared to Jay-Z…

Written By Dutch Schultz of Strictly Bidness

When it comes to the world of hip-hop, there are a few names that immediately come to mind, and Jay-Z is certainly one of them. However, according to rapper and entrepreneur 50 Cent, there are two names that are even bigger than Jay-Z: Future and himself.

In an interview with DJ Whoo Kid, 50 Cent stated that “Future is the biggest rapper right now,” citing his massive following and the fact that he can fill up arenas around the world. He also added that he himself is in the same category, saying that “I’m one of the biggest artists, too. It’s just that they didn’t get a chance to see me sell 30 million records.”

While Jay-Z is certainly one of the most successful rappers in history, 50 Cent and Future have certainly made their mark in the industry as well. 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, rose to fame in the early 2000s with his debut album “Get Rich or Die Tryin'” and has since become a successful businessman and actor. Future, whose real name is Nayvadius Wilburn, has released a number of successful albums and has collaborated with some of the biggest names in hip-hop.

In the end, it’s clear that the world of hip-hop is constantly evolving, with new artists rising to the top and established artists continuing to make their mark. While Jay-Z remains a legend in the industry, it’s important to recognize the success and influence of artists like 50 Cent and Future, who have made their mark in their own unique ways and continue to shape the future of hip-hop.

Rappers – things you can do to make money – as – a rapper…

If you are like a lot of lost souls – you are broke and trying to make it in the entertainment industry because Twitter told you that it’s possible. Unfortunately, like many of us, you learn very fast that you will not be able to make a living off of wishing on a star and you need to figure out ways to make money.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME – trying to convince people to do things for you or trying to convince the world you are entitled to be given things – like access – just because you have a dream and you happen to be talented.

YOU SHOULD be using your large following and engagement rate as leverage to get the attention of people who may need that kind of attention for the things they do but – be reasonable and you will see how you can turn your following into actual value.

FOR THE REST OF US here are some ways to make some dolla dolla bills ya’ll…

  1. Merchandising: Indie rappers can design and sell merchandise such as T-shirts, hoodies, hats, and other items featuring their brand or logo. Fans are often keen to buy merchandise as a way to show support and love for their favorite artists.
  2. Live Performances: Indie rappers can make money by performing at live shows or concerts. They can perform at local venues or even organize their own shows. Fans are often willing to pay for tickets to see their favorite artists perform live.
  3. Streaming revenue: Indie rappers can make money by releasing their music on various streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music. They earn a small royalty every time their music is streamed, which can add up over time.
  4. Collaborations: Indie rappers can collaborate with other artists or producers to create new music. Collaborations can help them reach a wider audience and attract new fans. They can also earn a percentage of the revenue generated from the collaboration.
  5. Sponsorships and endorsements: Indie rappers can partner with brands or companies to promote their products or services. They can earn money by endorsing products, appearing in advertisements, or featuring sponsored content on their social media platforms.

Strictly Bidness Management along with Music Network 1063 is sponsoring / endorsing artist who use their free services, the free services actually have value and that value can be gauged based on the work that we do.

Artist who really use the tools they are given set themselves apart from the rest and are easier to talk about when it comes to opportunities that come across our desks. While you are focusing on making money, you forgot to work and you forgot to develop yourself as a indie artist.

That means, when the big opportunities come, you may not be ready or in a position to get the best deal, so think, if you want to make money in music and you are struggling, you might want to get a regular job to cover your daily living expenses.

That way, you can be more comfortable as you formulate different ways to make money as a independent rapper.
