As an aspiring artist, you’ve probably wondered why some artists seem to effortlessly gain attention, while others struggle to get noticed despite their talent and hard work. The music industry can be a tough place, and success doesn’t always come easily. In this post, we’ll explore the differences between popular artists and those who need to do more work to gain attention.
Marketing and promotion
One of the biggest differences between popular artists and those who struggle to get noticed is marketing and promotion. Popular artists often have a team of experts who handle their marketing and promotion, ensuring that their music reaches as many people as possible. They have access to resources that most independent artists don’t, such as large marketing budgets, major labels, and established connections in the industry.
On the other hand, independent artists must often handle their own marketing and promotion. They may not have the same resources as popular artists, but they can still make an impact by being creative and resourceful. Utilizing social media, networking with other artists, and collaborating with brands can help indie artists get their music out there.
Industry connections
Another factor that sets popular artists apart is industry connections. Popular artists often have established relationships with influential people in the music industry, such as producers, managers, and record label executives. These connections can open doors and provide opportunities that independent artists may not have access to.
Independent artists can still build their own connections by networking, attending industry events, and reaching out to industry professionals. Building relationships takes time and effort, but it can pay off in the long run.
Talent and uniqueness
Of course, talent and uniqueness are also important factors that can determine an artist’s success. Popular artists often have a combination of talent, unique style, and marketability that make them stand out from the crowd. They may also have a team of professionals who help them hone their craft and refine their image.
Independent artists must also focus on their talent and uniqueness, but they may need to work harder to develop their skills and define their style. This can involve taking music lessons, collaborating with other artists, and experimenting with different genres and styles until they find their niche.
Persistence and hard work
Finally, persistence and hard work are essential for both popular and independent artists. Popular artists may have achieved success quickly, but they still need to work hard to maintain their status and continue creating music that resonates with their audience. Independent artists must also be persistent and dedicated, continuing to create and promote their music even when success seems elusive.
In conclusion, there are several factors that can determine an artist’s success in the music industry. While popular artists may have advantages such as marketing budgets, industry connections, and established talent, independent artists can still make an impact by being creative, building their own connections, and working hard to develop their skills and define their style. With persistence and dedication, any artist can achieve success and make their mark in the music world.

In high school or college, you may have received a lecture on being professional from a teacher. However, being professional goes beyond submitting your work on time, doing your best, and being respectful to others. The Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA) defines professionalism as a commitment to quality, integrity, and serving others well. According to HRPA, there are two definitions of professionalism. The first is based on the original meaning of professional, where individuals vow to perform their profession to the highest standard. The second definition puts economic gain first as the defining characteristic of professionalism, which separates professionals from amateurs.
The problem with these two definitions is that they have different standards. Professionals are expected to exhibit high levels of integrity and trustworthiness, whereas hobbyists who earn their living doing something that is typically a hobby may not always exhibit high levels of integrity and trustworthiness. This article focuses on the first definition of professionalism, which emphasizes the commitment to excellence, keeping your word, and being trustworthy.
As a musician, it is crucial to understand what it means to be a professional as you start and build your career. In this article, we will share six common mistakes that musicians make when it comes to professionalism.
Failing to Meet Deadlines: One common mistake that musicians make when it comes to professionalism is failing to meet deadlines. This could include missing recording or rehearsal sessions, arriving late to gigs, or failing to turn in work on time. It is essential to respect other people’s time and to show up on time, fully prepared to do the work.
Poor Communication: Another common mistake that musicians make is poor communication. This could mean failing to respond to emails, texts or phone calls in a timely manner, or not being clear in your communication. It is essential to be responsive and clear when communicating with other musicians, producers, or clients.
Lack of Preparation: Many musicians fail to adequately prepare for gigs, recording sessions, or other professional engagements. This could include failing to learn the songs or material, not practicing enough, or not bringing the right equipment. It is crucial to invest the time and effort required to be fully prepared for any professional engagement.
Failure to Adapt: Musicians who are inflexible or unwilling to adapt to different musical styles, genres or situations are unlikely to succeed professionally. It is essential to be open-minded, flexible and adaptable in order to succeed in the music industry.
Not Networking: Networking is a crucial part of any profession, but it is especially important in the music industry. Musicians who fail to network effectively may miss out on opportunities to collaborate with other artists, work with industry professionals, or secure gigs. It is important to attend industry events, meet other musicians, and build relationships with people in the music industry.
Lack of Professionalism: Finally, musicians who lack professionalism in their behavior or attitude are unlikely to succeed in the music industry. This could include behaving unprofessionally during gigs or recording sessions, being disrespectful to other musicians or industry professionals, or failing to take responsibility for mistakes. It is essential to conduct oneself with professionalism and respect at all times.
These are the things that are on my mind whenever I speak with artist on the internet, it is hard to connect with people who may not have the same interest as I do when it comes to building a solid reputation around the business of music.
I stick to my guns and uphold the things that matter when it comes to professionalism and 99.9% of my work is making sure that promises made get delivered.
My Name is Dutch Schultz aka BIG HEFFE (joke), I’m a fun loving guy who does management work. You guys may call me a middle man and I’m okay with that because it makes it easier to engage in conversation with people who may not have access to people like me.
I currently work full time as a senior property manager and like many management jobs, it looks like I just tell people what to do and that’s the limit of my set skills. Alas, I wish it was that easy because everyone who has a family would be rich since parents are the ultimate managers if you ask me.
Fun Fact: I’m the boring guy in the room who reminds you not to do stupid things that could make you look like a person who is more trouble than they are worth.
This is especially true with rappers and hip hop artist who really dive into the concept of becoming the persona – even when they are NOT on stage.
Can you imagine how terrifying it must be to work hard to secure a situation only to have some person destroy it because they wanted to rage out at a showcase? Meanwhile that person has no income and no intent on paying for anything they destroy because it’s all about the optics to a lot of indie artist.
This is why it is so important for me to use showcases to meet artist face to face and see if they have the ability to work, or, is this all a game?
WHO likes you and HOW big things are – only matter to fans and consumers of the art we create and package to sell to those fans. People like me – who actually work with artist who aren’t known, don’t want to follow trends or what’s happening now – we are focused on the future and who is going to be relevant next summer or next year.
The artist who catch my attention are the artist who show up, the artist who are about their work and understand the fact that it takes their cooperation to make my job easier.
What do I do? Well, first I get artist engaged with other artist and entertainment professionals so they can create content I can use to help promote them and represent them when I try to negotiate terms with promoters, venues, media outlets and personalities etc.
While artist are MORE INTERESTED in “meeting people” I’m more interested in – what we can do with the people we meet so I can do my job. You know artist? GREAT – are you doing more than trying to sell features? Are you actually creating projects together? Are you supporting one another on social media and doing press to promote your collabs?
Are you waiting for someone like me to do all that for you? IF SO – you are the kind of artist who will find yourself trapped in a messed up deal. The reality is I would LOVE to find artist I can make money off of – if – making money was the only goal, but it’s not.
TO REALLY – make something happen – I need artist who can work on their own. If I put you in a room full of indie artist, and you come out with a bunch of numbers and the goal of making money off of collabs etc. – then you miss the concept of building and networking, and you prove that you are not trying to go the distance.
While I’m focusing on making sure things look good and work for us when it comes to creating content we can present to the masses and put in your press kit – you should be interacting with the other artist, taking pictures, creating content for socials and just being a positive contributor.
This isn’t something you can sell to anyone, it’s real life experience and it’s real life motivation to work to establish things that NO ONE may never see, and artist will pretend there is no value there, but go to a local showcase and see how artist play to the camera.
They play to the crowd even if the crowd is like minded artist vs. actual – fans, they often fall into the celebrity and experience the party atmosphere which they confuse for value and that is something that often causes friction between myself and the artist I have dealt with in the past.
There was a time in my life when I was experiencing crazy parties and club events – Monday – Sunday and it never stopped. I got so tired of going to clubs I would fall asleep in the VIP and when it was time to go, I’d drop everyone off and go home.
While gaining that experience was so valuable for me, it’s less important for me to try to chase the party scene vs. work with artist who want to benefit in a real way.
I think that’s the most important point, if you are stuck around people who are lost in this fake sense of value, you will not get a real opinion because they aren’t really working.
You need to understand that management work is hard and you won’t always benefit right away, some things take time to work out and that’s why we offer six month contracts vs. a open ended agreement – and the contract comes with obligations, if you don’t do certain things then it is clear that our services won’t help you.
It could be something as simple as asking a artist to write a biography for themselves or scheduling a photo shoot etc.
If artist want me to schedule things for them, it cost more money – and – they don’t understand the dynamic of booking something for themselves, the point isn’t to “boss” artist around but – to educate while developing the talent.
I believe in my heart that a lot of artist don’t have a lot of buzz around their music and they need something to grab onto, so when they run into me, it’s easy to either play me close OR play off of the information I promote on my socials.
It’s a very easy way for me to identify people I would never want to work with but – it’s also very distracting because people who have nothing more going on can create these good looking things that have no real value.
I think the hardest thing for artist to understand is how they can’t really do things on their own anymore and they need to stay focused on one or two things at once vs. doing whatever they want on their own schedule.
It’s not easy to be involved in a real business relationship with real obligations and responsibilities but when you “make it” you will get flooded with these issues but the difference is that money and more will be on the line.
It’s a good excuse to sign up for the networking events Strictly Bidness organizes, you get to test yourself and see if your following is really into your music.
It’s a good way to create promotional content and put yourself out there, it’s also a good way to see who really supports you so you can make personal decisions concerning how you promote your music and who you share your ideas with.
We provide a place where you can get – professional pictures, footage of your performance and opportunities to interview – all for your electronic press kit which we will help you create for no additional cost. (People sell press kits for $600 or more)
You will pay anyway, Coast 2 Coast, Concert Crave, and many other concert companies charge $250 or more for performance slots and they do not do a fraction of the things I do for artist.
The biggest thing is I’m honest with artist, is this right for you? YES – if you are willing to do the work – NO if you want a quick come up.
I have a team of solid professionals who have #Management experience and experience organizing events, low level to big concerts… and when I say – experience – I mean we have experience handling everything – and we offer affordable rates to artist so they aren’t spending money they don’t have.

Fan art is a form of artistic expression that is created by fans of a particular work, such as a movie, book, or video game. It can take many forms, from sketches and paintings to sculptures and digital designs. Fan art is a way for fans to show their love and appreciation for a particular work, as well as to demonstrate their own creative skills.
One of the most popular subjects for fan art is Spiderman, the iconic Marvel superhero created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in 1962. Spiderman has been a fan favorite for decades, with numerous comic book series, movies, and TV shows devoted to his adventures. The character’s popularity has led to an enormous amount of fan art, with artists from around the world creating their own interpretations of Spiderman and his world.
There are many reasons why Spiderman is such a popular subject for fan art. For one thing, the character has a distinctive and recognizable look, with his red and blue costume and spider-themed motifs. This makes him easy to identify and easy to draw, which can be a big draw for artists who are just starting out.
In addition, Spiderman has a rich history and mythology that offers a lot of inspiration for fan artists. From his origins as a high school student who gains superpowers after being bitten by a radioactive spider, to his battles with iconic villains like Doctor Octopus and the Green Goblin, there are plenty of stories and moments to inspire fan art. And with the recent success of the Spiderman movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there are even more fans and artists getting in on the action.
One of the most exciting things about fan art is the way that it allows artists to take creative risks and explore new ideas. With fan art, there are no rules or restrictions, which means that artists can play around with the characters and settings in new and interesting ways. For example, some fan artists might reimagine Spiderman as a different gender or ethnicity, or place him in a completely different setting, like a post-apocalyptic wasteland or a medieval castle.
Fan art can also offer a way for fans to engage with their favorite works on a deeper level. By creating their own art, fans can explore their own interpretations of the characters and stories that they love, and share those ideas with others. This can lead to interesting discussions and debates, as well as a sense of community and camaraderie among fans.
Of course, creating fan art is not without its challenges. For one thing, fan artists must be careful not to infringe on copyright laws or other intellectual property rights. While fan art is generally considered a form of fair use, it’s important for artists to be aware of the legal and ethical implications of their work. Some fan artists choose to create their own original characters or settings inspired by Spiderman, rather than directly depicting the character himself.
Another challenge for fan artists is standing out in a crowded field. With so many talented artists creating Spiderman fan art, it can be difficult to get noticed or to make a name for oneself. Some fan artists choose to specialize in a particular style or medium, while others try to create unique and eye-catching pieces that stand out from the crowd.
Despite these challenges, fan art remains a vibrant and exciting form of creative expression, and Spiderman continues to be one of the most popular subjects for fan artists around the world. Whether you’re a seasoned professional or a beginner just starting out, there’s always room for new and exciting Spiderman fan art, and plenty of opportunities to explore the character and his world in new and interesting ways.
In conclusion, fan art is a wonderful way for fans to express their love and appreciation for their favorite works, and Spiderman is one of the most popular subjects for fan artists around the world. Whether you’re a fan

You want to protect your creative work and ensure that you receive appropriate credit and compensation for your efforts. In this article, we will provide a comprehensive guide on how Strictly Bidness can register and protect your music.
As part of our contribution to the community of artist throughout the internet, we offer a checklist to help artist DIY – to help minimize expenses associated with being a viable indie artist.
Step 1: Copyright Your Music
The first step in protecting your music is to copyright it. Copyrighting your music gives you exclusive rights to your work, and it prevents others from using, reproducing, or selling your music without your permission. Copyrighting your music also makes it easier for you to sue anyone who infringes on your rights.
To copyright your music, you need to register with the copyright office in your country. In the US, you can register with the U.S. Copyright Office. In the UK, you can register with the Intellectual Property Office. Copyright registration involves submitting your music and paying a fee. Once you register your music, you will receive a certificate of registration.
Step 2: Join a Performing Rights Organization
Joining a performing rights organization (PRO) is essential if you want to earn money from your music. PROs collect royalties on behalf of songwriters and composers for the use of their music in public performances, such as radio play, live shows, and TV broadcasts. They also distribute these royalties to their members.
In the US, there are three main PROs: ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC. In the UK, there are two main PROs: PRS for Music and PPL. Joining a PRO involves submitting your music and paying a membership fee. Once you join a PRO, you will be assigned a unique identifier, which will allow the organization to track and collect royalties for your music.
Step 3: Register Your Music with a Digital Distributor
Registering your music with a digital distributor is essential if you want your music to be available on streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music. Digital distributors distribute your music to these platforms and collect royalties on your behalf.
There are many digital distributors to choose from, including TuneCore, DistroKid, and CD Baby. When choosing a digital distributor, consider factors such as fees, features, and customer support. Once you register your music with a digital distributor, they will distribute your music to various streaming platforms and collect royalties on your behalf.
Step 4: Protect Your Music Against Infringement
