Lucas Michalski

What is your artist name? Lucas Michalski

What kind of music do you make?  As I’m always trying something new, looking for new forms and new sounds, I try to blend two worlds of electronic beats and samples with real rock guitar. It’s worth mentioning that I’m mainly a guitar player at heart for many many years (over 20 now… ) but instead of just ripping riffs I blend them with electronic vibe. What kind of music I make? Hard to describe, you have to judge it yourself… Atmospheric, fist pumping, nostalgic, bitty with some edge… you name it yourself. Many tried to blend electronic samples with guitars, but I believe my style is bit different… as I always say… different but in a good way, I believe it has loads to offer. Regarding my influences it must be guitar players, as like I said I’m mainly a guitar player. Have to mention James Hetfield and not only as a musician but as a person as well.I would love to take my listeners on some sort of a journey… All of my songs are personal, with personal background bringing loads of emotions so as long as I’ll bring some emotions with my music… I’m a winner

How old are you and when did you start creating music? I’m 35 now and started playing guitar when I was 13 or so… seen Metallica live on TV and instantly wanted to be like them… So it’s been a while, apart from many bands, recently I started my own solo project under my name. Long time but tried many music related things so far.

What are your goals when it comes to your music career? To keep playing, writing and bringing emotion to the listeners… One smile thanks to my music is like achieving millions of goals.

P-Moneyy

What is your artist name? P-Moneyy

What kind of music do you make?  I would call my style of music a blend of hip hop, trap, and R&B. The music I make is unique because my influences range from my favorite artist, Lil Wayne, all the way to guys like Johnny Cash and Curtis Mayfield. Being from Louisiana I was exposed to everything from bounce music, zydeco, boom bap, trap, everything. Louisiana is a great place for inspiration and is truly what shaped me as not only an artist but as a person as well. If one kid from small town USA hears my music and thinks “man that guy can really rap, and he’s from nowhere just like me, maybe I can do this too.” I love the craft of rap, I really enjoy writing and recording, and mixing and just being in a space where I can create. I make music for the love of the music, simple as that.

How old are you and when did you start creating music? I am 25 and I started playing guitar after hearing Pantera. Dimebag Darrell really did it for me, so I was maybe 10 or so. I started rapping shortly after that as well after hearing The Marshall Mathers LP and The Black Album from Jay-Z. I recently turned 25 in January, dropped my first mixtape in 2012 I think back when I was in high school. It was such an organic and wholesome process of handing out my music from the back of my moms car. I went on a hiatus while I took time to grow up and focus on my family and music went on the back burner until it called me back, and I dropped my first album in January of 2019 titled 71065 an homage to my hometown. I have been working relentlessly ever since, working with multiple producers and artists who have helped me further develop as an artist.

What are your goals when it comes to your music career? My goals in music are simple, I want people to hear my music and appreciate it, I want them to feel the emotions behind my music, and overall I want to leave them wanting more.

What do you want the reader to know about you and your music? I’m just a regular guy from the middle of nowhere Pleasant Hill Louisiana and I love everything about hip hop and music in general. I think once people hear me and my guys, B-Lucas and Hyroh it’ll click for everyone. I really appreciate you giving me this opportunity and I look forward to working more in the future. If you want to hear a hungry artist with a great story to tell, and someone who isn’t afraid to be great, then I hope I can be that.

FRESH

What is your artist name? FRESH

What kind of music do you make?  I love being open minded in musicality. I mainly stay in a Hip-Hop/R&B world but I love house, I love euro soul, pop so I incorporate all elements into my music. Currently I am working on making a sound more custom to me. A Hip-House sound.

Influences are vast for me. I grew up on so many styles of music. From a Hip-Hop standpoint LL and Jay pretty much helped cultivate my flow and delivery. I look up to them so much. From a songwriting standpoint people like Alanis, Sia, The-Dream, Patsy Cline, Babyface have all helped me understand the importance of telling a story through music. My lyrics are almost the alter ego side of me. I’m looking on this next project to make it much more related to positivity and sharing love.

How old are you and when did you start creating music? I created my first ‘mixtape’ lol when i was 12. I would take instrumentals and make my own songs lol. First real FRESH project came when i was 19-20

What are your goals when it comes to your music career? Mainly to connect, to share a message. I want people to feel encouraged to be vulnerable and to be open. We can be so closed, so negative.. To open up and share. Create a safe environment to feel.

What do you want the reader to know about you and your music? I want the readers to know that music for me is an outlet of emotion. I hope you can relate and share the experience with me. Connection is the key to me, and if I only connect with a few people I will feel I have done what I came to do.

What kind of music do you make?  I make music with a blend of genres, mainly inspired by hip-hop production.

My music tends to fit into subgenres such as Lo-Fi, cloud rap, emo and bedroom pop. I try to make my music about my own experiences, almost telling a story to the listener, or just to be enjoyed. My music is influenced by hip-hop, trap, punk, alternative, metal, and any other music I listen to. I make all my music by myself, other than features or collaborations, from the production to the vocals and I have made a few projects, some being entirely instrumental, while some having a focus on vocals. All of my music so far has been created in my bedroom.

How old are you and when did you start creating music?  I’m currently 16 and have been making music for just over 2 years, and hope to continue as I gain more experience in life, music production and songwriting.

What are your goals when it comes to your music career?  My main goal is to be able to live off of my passion. I also really hope my music can help others in some way, as well as influence music culture, however, I feel like making a living is the main thing I want to achieve.

What do you want the reader to know about you and your music?  I’m from Cardiff in the UK and want to prove anyone wrong when it comes to their doubts about me as an artist, and a person in general. I’ve had my instrumental song, “Holly”, played on national radio (BBC Radio Wales) and hopefully soon you’ll hear some too. Also, stay hydrated. 😁

Monkee Sez No!

What is your artist name? Monkee Sez No!

What kind of music do you make?
I guess the technical term for our genre is ‘Post-Rock’ but we are really a little bit of a mishmash of everything. We have Indie Rock roots but we got heavily influenced by electro and there is certainly a whiff of cyber folk and jazz about us too. Really depends on what mood takes us. Monkee Sez No! is both a band and a collective. The 4 of us, Tom, Glenn, Blake and Richey, have been friends and made music together for the last 20 years but its been in little groups as well as big groups. The idea of bringing it all under one banner was that we can make music as a 4 but also as a 3 or a pair and it can still be part of the musical story we’re trying to tell. Tom, Glenn and Richey are all singer songwriters who are exceptionally blessed to have Blake as a sonic conductor with an exceptionally good home studio and an amazing ear for production, not forgetting his immense talent as a musician too.  Our influences are far and wide really Beatles, Britpop, Kid A was a seminal album for all of us, Homogenic by Bjork too. We went through the Nu-Metal/Punk phase and then heavily into hip hop. At one time its was all Drum n Bass and Breakbeat. We like to think we’ve taken a bit of everything and chucked it in the melting pot. We’re not trying to make music that sounds like someone else and no genre or idea is off limits. We get off on vibing on the same ideas and merging them together to create something we didn’t know we were creating. For example the recent album “Last Human Left Alive” is very much a concept album we didn’t realise we were making until we heard it. Lyrically The subject matter of aging, humanities self-destruction and the none chronological movement of time runs throughout, and our in-joke bogyman Mr Fellows turns up more often than we realised too. Musically we manage to stay on the same tact with that album as it all has a floating in space vibe. Latest single ‘Waiting for Brexit’ takes a far more punky and satirical stance which was probably just because that’s how we were feeling that day. Whilst we love getting some deep thinking vibes out there we basically have a lot of fun making our music and a lot of humour creeps in there, being as we’ve all been friends since we were kids in can be especially base humour sometimes too, its all part of our make-up though. We’d like to think that you get something different from us everytime but you can always tell its uniquely us. I guess that’s what we’re going for.

How old are you and when did you start creating music?
We’re as old as our gums and a little bit younger than our teeth (shut up Pauline). We’re all in our mid-30s and have been making music either together or apart since we were around 14. Our very first albums were home recorded on tape cassette, our second album on Mini-Disc and after that is grown and grown and grown with Blake just adding to his studio. Acid, Reason, Reaper the tech we have to record with now compared to what we had when we started is mind blowing. On our first album we did overdubs by playing what we had just recorded loud out of a hi-fi system and playing along with it whilst we recorded on to another tape. For some reason its always been about making new songs rather than playing other peoples stuff. Not sure why that is but its just how we work.

What are your goals when it comes to your music career?
We have no goals other than to get heard and see if anyone likes it. This is a new stage in our ‘career’ where we’ve finally come out of each other’s man caves and get our music out there publicly rather than just hawking it rounds to friends and fam. The power of DistroKid has really opened up that avenue for us. We have started with Last Human Left Alive and are already part way through our next one. We haven’t quite decided yet whether the entire back catalogue will be uploaded. We guess if we are asked for it we will.

What do you want the reader to know about you and your music?
We like to think our music is a little snapshot of the thoughts, worries and hopes of the present time but listeners should be aware that whilst some of it is deadly serious there is also a tongue in cheek element both musically and lyrically. Does that make sense? Have we scared them all away? Was anyone reading anyways? Hello….hello….is this thing on

Freshman Baird

What is your artist name? -Freshman Baird

What kind of music do you make?  -Rap/Hip Hop. I would however like to expand to a broader range when the time is appropriate. My music is simply me and encompasses many aspects that make me. I grew up in a small country town where things hadn’t changed much and rap was just “what the young kids listen to” no one really had aspirations to pursue it. My music is a combination, it’s rap with a country twist, but not “Hick Hop.”

How old are you and when did you start creating music? -I’m currently 23. I’ve had a passion for music most of my life however it wasn’t until I was in Alaska I found my passion in the pen.

What are your goals when it comes to your music career? -My only real goals in music are to make a connection to individuals through my craft while remaining true to myself. I believe if you’re in music for much else, then you’re in it for the wrong reasons.

What do you want the reader to know about you and your music? -I’m a Tennessee kid with a passion for music. Nothing about me individually is special, I’m the average man for the average man. I’m not your icy chains in a Ferrari but I grew up dropping chains, getting wasted around bonfires at parties.
