Where did the name of this song come from? It came from the song basically being a conversation with myself and an inside-look into my mind, with my daily self-talk/self-thoughts. “Him” is the idea of; am I really who I think I am, or do I not truly know?
How long does it take for you to write a song and how long did this one take you write? It generally doesn’t take me too long, I just let it flow and get my thoughts and ideas on paper and then work off those ideas. Usually it comes naturally for me, I haven’t had much writers-block or anything like that to be honest and I think that’s because I write from my heart.
What is your favorite part of this song? Why? My favorite part of the song is the hook – I just feel like it’s one of my best hooks that I’ve made because I think it’s original and catchy. Also, my producer made the hook literally sound like it’s a conversation with my-self and being in my mind, so he really captured the concept that I was looking for. He was able to do that right on the spot without any previous preparation. So shows his talents as well and just an example of how he’s helped my sound evolve – so shout-out to my producer Adrian Vasquez of Audiophile Media Group.
When people listen to this song, what do you want them to take away as far as message? The biggest message I want them to take away is that we are not defined by our thoughts, but rather by our actions! I heard that quote in a book lately and it’s really stuck out to me. The point of the song is that I believe we all have crazy thoughts, our minds think of WAY too many thoughts per day to even count, so we’re going to think of things that we don’t want to or don’t like. Again, those thoughts don’t define WHO WE ARE; who we are is who we CHOOSE to be and the actions/decisions we take in our everyday lives!
Do you think this song represents who you are as a artist? 100% – this song represents exactly who I am as an artist because it’s honest, it’s vulnerable, and it’s from the heart. Also, because it’s intended to help other people that can relate to having negative thoughts or maybe questioning who they are as a person to just realize it’s all good and that you’re not alone.
