What is your artist name? JAYO
What kind of music do you make? Hip-Hop/Rap. I’m inspired by a wide range of artists in different genres, from Rapsody to Bon Iver. I grew up in south east London, so I was and still am influenced by Grime music and tend to fuse that and hip-hop together in my own creations, whether that’s through the flows, beat choices or lyrics. My main influences would have to be Kanye West, Jay-Z, Nas and Wale. I love their lyricism, flows but mainly Kanye due to his creativeness; he has broken boundaries in Hip-Hop that have paved the way for artists today.
How old are you and when did you start creating music? I am 21 years old and started making music in 2011, so about 10 years now.
What are your goals when it comes to your music career? To be recognised on a global scale for my creativity and with enough influence to inspire and uplift those people through my music. To also work alongside a lot of the artists I have looked up to through the years – that would be a dream come true.
What do you want the reader to know about you and your music? That there is a wide range in terms of moods and energies within my catalogue of music. That it embodies who I am as a person, with the aim of being understood in a way that relates to my audience. I want them to feel a connection to what I create and inspire them to become their best selves.
