What is your artist name? K-Killa

What kind of music do you make? Hip Hop – I try to be as diverse as possible when making songs and not really limit myself to any one sound. My favorite stuff to make is more lyrical boom bap style stuff. I love the art of the wordplay and flow. As you can guess most of my influences in hip hop come from the 90s-00s era. Ice Cube, Xzibit, Eminem, Talib Kweli, Common, Wu Tang, Biggie, that sort of stuff. As far as process, I almost always start by finding or creating a beat then writing the lyrics. But on occasion I’ll write first then find a beat that fits. A lot of what I do is just punchline and wordplay but I try to incorporate my real life experiences when I can. I write a lot about/for my girlfriend, Divine. She’s my muse and really encourages me and inspires me more then anything. So anytime I can slip her name in or a bar about her I will. When I make music, Unless I’m making a song for my girl, I don’t really make it for anyone but myself. It’s really my therapy and how I clear my head and balance myself. If people can relate or connect that’s awesome but if they can’t that’s fine too.

How old are you and when did you start creating music? I am 29 and I started making music when I was 12 or so and got in to making Hip Hop and producing around 15.

What are your goals when it comes to your music career? Ideally, like many others, I’d like to be able to make a living from music. I’d love to tour the world doing shows, work with my favorite artists and expand into film maybe if the opportunity presents itself.

What do you want the reader to know about you and your music? I just dropped a new single called “Neon Soul” on all platforms. And I’ll be dropping another single on the 15th called “Flex” featuring 94 Cove and Mark Battles. Both singles are from my new album “Birthday Boy” that drops on June 29th which happens to be my birthday. The album is mainly produced by Dreamlife with a few tracks featuring co-production. The album is presented by Black’d Out Clothing Co.
